Sirloin Steak with Garlic Butter Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Steaks:
- 2 sirloin steaks (about 8 oz each)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
For the Garlic Butter:
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped (optional)
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Garlic Butter:
- In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, thyme, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
- Mix until well combined.
- Transfer the garlic butter to a piece of plastic wrap or parchment paper and shape it into a log.
- Refrigerate until firm, about 15 minutes.
2. Prepare the Steaks:
- Take the steaks out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This helps them cook more evenly.
- Pat the steaks dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture. This will help create a good sear.
- Season both sides of the steaks generously with salt and pepper.
3. Cook the Steaks:
- Heat a large skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat. When hot, add the olive oil.
- Once the oil is shimmering, add the steaks to the pan. Do not overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary.
- Sear the steaks for about 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check: 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare, 140°F (60°C) for medium, or 160°F (71°C) for well done.
- Transfer the steaks to a plate and cover them loosely with foil. Let them rest for 5 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.
4. Serve:
- Slice the garlic butter and place a piece on each hot steak.
- Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes, such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad.
Enjoy your perfectly cooked sirloin steak with garlic butter!
