Sirloin Steak with Garlic Butter Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Steaks:

  • 2 sirloin steaks (about 8 oz each)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For the Garlic Butter:

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Garlic Butter:

  • In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, thyme, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix until well combined.
  • Transfer the garlic butter to a piece of plastic wrap or parchment paper and shape it into a log.
  • Refrigerate until firm, about 15 minutes.

2. Prepare the Steaks:

  • Take the steaks out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This helps them cook more evenly.
  • Pat the steaks dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture. This will help create a good sear.
  • Season both sides of the steaks generously with salt and pepper.

3. Cook the Steaks:

  • Heat a large skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat. When hot, add the olive oil.
  • Once the oil is shimmering, add the steaks to the pan. Do not overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary.
  • Sear the steaks for about 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check: 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare, 140°F (60°C) for medium, or 160°F (71°C) for well done.
  • Transfer the steaks to a plate and cover them loosely with foil. Let them rest for 5 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

4. Serve:

  • Slice the garlic butter and place a piece on each hot steak.
  • Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes, such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad.

Enjoy your perfectly cooked sirloin steak with garlic butter!
