Here's a simple and delicious Chicken and Broccoli recipe that you can make in under 30 minutes! This recipe is great for a quick weeknight dinner and can be served with rice, noodles, or on its own.
Chicken and Broccoli Stir-Fry
Ingredients:
For the chicken and broccoli:
- 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breast, thinly sliced
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced (optional)
- 1/4 cup water
For the sauce:
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce (optional for extra flavor)
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or white vinegar)
- 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
- 1/4 cup chicken broth or water
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
Instructions:
Prepare the Sauce:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, rice vinegar, honey, chicken broth, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
Cook the Chicken:
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced chicken and stir-fry for 4-5 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and no longer pink. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
Cook the Broccoli:
- In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil.
- Add the minced garlic and ginger (if using) and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 2 minutes.
- Add 1/4 cup of water to the skillet and cover. Let the broccoli steam for another 2-3 minutes, or until it becomes tender-crisp.
Combine and Cook:
- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the broccoli.
- Pour the sauce over the chicken and broccoli and stir to coat evenly.
- Continue cooking for about 2 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and everything is heated through.
